Subject: P90x for Cross Training

I am currently on day 50ish and am using it for cross training for the Hyner View Mountain Challenge in April.  Results are for real.

I was just wondering if any of use have used it in the past?

Also I am eyeing up the Black Bear Sprint for my first Tri, any thoughts?

Thanks

I have no answer for you, but have always wanted to try p90x. One day I'll actually buy it.

I'm on day 3 and my whole body hurts so I think it's working. Not much of difference yet though

I just ordered P90X this past monday. I cant wait to get it. I am training for the Beach2Battleship 1/2 ironman in Wilmington on Nov 7th. I have a 20 week training program that I found on this website. I hadnt thought of using the P90X for cross training. Since I am way out of shape my plan had been to use the P90X to gain strength and slim down and then do the 20 week tri program. But I might do some overlapping for added results, if I can still move that is.

Two of my friends just completed/are in the last taper week of p90x and they both saw marginal results. You will lose/gain weight depending on current muscle mass, but definately get into better shape. It is definately one of those things: you get what you put into it. Of note, they used resistance bands as opposed to free weights, which would be highly preferable in my opinion for more muscle mass gains. The cardio/kenpo workouts are lame from what i hear and i would reccomend skipping those and doing running/cycling/swimming instead. I have the program, but i don't do it. I do use the ab ripper x and the yoga x from the program as my core workout / cross training every now and again. They are both tough.

I ordered it last Friday. It’s supposed to arrive Thursday. I’m planning to do a couple sprints and Olympics through August, then a half iron in October. I should be able to get the 90 days in before I really get into my half training plan.

I know a couple people who've used it and have seen noticeable results (though not cross-training for triathlon). I ordered it mostly for the core workouts and hopefully to get some muscle definition in my upper body since I’ve never done much weight training. Plus, I cannot seem to get those last 8-10 pounds off and wanted to try something else.

I’ve read several threads on their message boards where their experts recommend not running, etc. while you’re on the plan. I’m planning to add the workouts core and dumbbell workouts to my current routine and probably will not bother with the cardio and kenpo workouts.

I do the strength workouts in addition to the tri stuff. The workouts are awesome! I think that I may add in the plyometrics next round.
