Tony, maybe you and I should get some warm hot cocoa to have while watching the swim.  Maybe with marshmellows in it?  That might be nice.

I'm out for the Rumpass...family coming to visit from Mass...we will be at Great Wolf Lodge instead...going up those stairs and swimming against the current in the lazy river is kinda like a duathlon of sorts...the third event will have to be eating ribs and drinking beers at Pierce's BBQ.

Last spring I did an OWS practice in 55 deg water and air.  Wore the wetsuit...froze my a$$ off.  I am not looking forward to the frigid water next weekend but at least this time I have a neoprene cap

Thanks for the info. I have significantly re-adjusted my goals. I'm afraid of the cold water too, tried swimming with a wetsuit in the pool for the first time today. I've never swam in open water. It's too cold here, up in PA. So... I think next weekend should be interesting. Hahah.... this is the point of no return I guess.

Water temp is listed as 54-57 now. This is going to be rather interesting. According to weather.com it's supposed to be 66 and raining next Sat. We'll see what Sunday's supposed to be like tomorrow

the T-shirt better be worth it.  that's the only reason I signed up for an early season race; I wanted a T-short T-shirt with Rumpass on it

Got the neoprene hood, but now I'm wondering if I should rent a full-sleeve wetsuit instead of using the sleeveless.

Any suggestions from the sleeveless owners?

(P.S. I'm doing the sprint on Sunday, not the Int'l)

Try being a girl - the t-shirts are always huge on me and rarely do they offer a women's version (at Cherry Blossom, they screwed up and marked my bib with a "small", not the "extra small", which was a women's tee. The girl was like "There's not a big difference" and I was like "Um, hold one next to the small - they're not even the same damn shirt, you moron".). Even the tech tees. I have two tech tees from races that I can't wear to work out since they're ginormous. I will sometimes wear them on the trainer, though.

I'm going sleeveless since my full doesn't fit as well and it has some holes in it from me trying to get on one time.  neoprene cap, check.  Just pee in your wetsuit.  That's what I do when we are all huddled together before the start.

Very unlikely.  If they did, the decision probably would be made within 24-48 hours of the start.

Didn't they shorten the swim on the Kinetic Half a few years ago? That's why I ask.

They gave people an option to do another run. But if you did that, you didn't get timed.

Close.. They shortened the swim (but not the sprint swim the next day) for the half to ~ an oly distance swim - only a few hundred meters short of the 1/2 iron swim distance. They gave an option of a duathlon, you got timed, but were not eligible for awards.

The water is currently 58 degrees. Nothing to worry about there.

I hope not. I'm going to whine, doesn't mean I'm not going to do it
