Total Time = 1h 13m 48s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 12/33
Pre-race routine:

Ate on the way down in the car. Had my Erin Bakers Cookies, and just relaxed on the way down.
Data for age group stats wont be up for a few more days. Ugh!
Event warmup:

Walk about a 1/2 mile to transition and then back out to the swim start. Lots of stretching since it was really cold.
Swim
  • 06m 53s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 23s / 100 yards
Comments:

Was able to draft of the lead guy. Was able to finish swim in second place. After we caught up the first few waves, then I lost my drafting guy as I bumped into the tail of another swimmer. Then on my own for the rest.
What would you do differently?:

Don't know. Keep closer focus on the person you draft.
Transition 1
  • 02m 25s
Comments:

The transition area was muddy and sandy. So I was unable to leave shoes onto the bike and take off in socks or bear foot. This would of carried a lot of sand and mud inside my shoes. Don't think so. Since college waves were in front of us, they had watered the sand and mud.
What would you do differently?:

I think I did as best as I could pending the condition of the transition.
Bike
  • 33m 7s
  • 12.51 miles
  • 22.67 mile/hr
Comments:

First loop felt a little light and took me most of the first loop to regain control of my breathing from the end of the swim. Don't know what happened, but that hurted. Then second and third loop got better. Good ride overall.
What would you do differently?:

Train more on the bike. Mileage is been a little lacking lately. OK, maybe a lot from my training.
Transition 2
  • 01m 58s
Comments:

Felt good. Couldn't take shoes off since it was wet on muddy. So kept shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Not much due to the course terrain.
Run
  • 29m 26s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt OK from the transition on the run. Then about half way out, gut got a side stich, worked it our, then felt good on the way home. Kept pace right behind one of the college girl that was just perfect pace for me to push.
What would you do differently?:

Keep up and keep on running more. Improving well, and just work on more speed and distance.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, and stretch.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training. Overall very happy for this early in the year.

Event comments:

This race is definitively cattered toward college people. Would advise for beginner. Most athletes are very fast on this course. 75% collegiate people with families also racing. Not many new beginner.
I would do it in a hearbeat. Awesome race.

Great job! I had a blast out there today too. It was a little muddy and made for an interesting transition. Glad you had a good time.
