YWCA Indoor Triathlon - TriathlonSprint

View Member's Race Log
Minneapolis, Minnesota
United States
YWCA
Total Time = 1h 04m 19s
Overall Rank = 32/51
Age Group = Women
Age Group Rank = 14/30
Pre-race routine:

I had a little coffee and some toast. Both kids are sick, and Shef cried when I left. Luckily, I was in the first heat, and I knew I'd be home by 10. I've never done an indoor tri before, so I wasn't sure what to swim in. In the end, I decided to wear my tri shorts because pulling them on wet sounded too hard.

The Y didn't break the result into age groups, so I just figured out my places among all women.
Event warmup:

I did get on a bike to decide what height my seat should be. And I swam a lap. My whole idea of this event was just to see... how pitifully out of shape I actually am. ;)
Swim
  • 12m 18s
  • 600 yards
  • 02m 03s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was my second swim since I got pregnant with Mac. So, two swims in 17 months? I know swimming is supposed to be perfect for pregnant people. But, the idea of it just always made me feel fat and/or nauseous.
Transition 1
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

Fine. I did forget to grab my water bottle, but the volunteer brought it to me.
Bike
  • 32m 17s
  • 10 miles
  • 18.59 mile/hr
Comments:

I tried to stay focused. I think I did a pretty good job. They played loud music, which was nice.
Transition 2
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

I moved my bag to the designated location and headed upstairs to the track. I was feeling pretty tired.
Run
  • 17m 18s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

Well, I had hoped to be faster. But, I'm pretty out of shape. ;)

This is my slowest avg. pace in a race ever. Well, I guess I did run slower average times in my first two marathons. But not the third. Oh yes, and in one of my half marathons, I did run slower.

I'm happy to know where I am, though, and I do know how to get better.
Post race
Warm down:

I got a bagel and took a shower.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm really out of shape. ;)

Event comments:

This was a fun event. I'm going to encourage my husband to do the one in April. Why not?!
