Subject: RE: Anyone done Tri-ing for Children?? I plan on doing it again this year! Hmm, it seems I never finished my race report.
Did the Oly last year and had a really good time (except for the bonk on the run). The "lake" is really a large pond and was extremely clear and clean with almost no weeds near the surface. Best swim venue I experienced last year. I did run into the later waves on the 2nd lap, and the super-sprinters on the way in but there was plenty of room to swim. It was cool to see the 12-15 feet to the bottom.
The roads were fairly clean on the bike with no major hills, not a lot of traffic, and decent amounts of shade and scenery to boot! But there was a right turn down CTY N for about 1/10 mi. and a cone turn-around that some didn't navigate too well (I heard). I clipped out one foot the first pass of it. The run is a basic 2 lap out-and-back on mostly sunny asphalt. Kinda boring and hope they change it this year.
Well organized, lots of volunteers, and beer afterwards! And it is a great cause, as was mentioned.
I thought last year was the first year at a new venue with possibly a new race director. I heard the change in the super-sprint run was almost a mile longer than scheduled. I see on the site they will be making some course adjustments for '09. It was probably the best race venue and event I was at last year.
Hope to see you there! Good luck!
