It appears I am going to be in the Milwaukee area and was thinking of doing the Olympic.  Anyone done it before? how is Ottawa lake?

A bunch of us have done it.  I did the sprint last year and am going to probably do the sprint again this year.  Ottawa lake is great and I wish it wasn't a 35 minute drive to get there as it is an awesome training lake.  It is spring fed and in a park, so it is really clean.

I plan on doing it again this year! Hmm, it seems I never finished my race report.

Did the Oly last year and had a really good time (except for the bonk on the run).  The "lake" is really a large pond and was extremely clear and clean with almost no weeds near the surface.  Best swim venue I experienced last year.  I did run into the later waves on the 2nd lap, and the super-sprinters on the way in but there was plenty of room to swim.  It was cool to see the 12-15 feet to the bottom.

The roads were fairly clean on the bike with no major hills, not a lot of traffic, and decent amounts of shade and scenery to boot! But there was a right turn down CTY N for about 1/10 mi. and a cone turn-around that some didn't navigate too well (I heard).  I clipped out one foot the first pass of it.

The run is a basic 2 lap out-and-back on mostly sunny asphalt.  Kinda boring and hope they change it this year.

Well organized, lots of volunteers, and beer afterwards!  And it is a great cause, as was mentioned.

I thought last year was the first year at a new venue with possibly a new race director.  I heard the change in the super-sprint run was almost a mile longer than scheduled.  I see on the site they will be making some course adjustments for '09.  It was probably the best race venue and event I was at last year.

Hope to see you there!  Good luck!

I am on the Baord for T4C.  I also did the Oly.  I really liked the course - flat and fast!!!

Yes tehre were a few course issues with distance and that turn, but I have talked to Race Day Events already this year and tehy are loooking into some new options to smooth that out more.  It is a great venue for a great cause.  You will definitely have a blast

I will be out there again this year, either as a volunteer or racing the oly.  unless of course the lovely spouse holds true on her challenge, then we both will be racing the sprint!

Looks like I will have another race on the roster.  As someon who has the pleasure (NOT!) of starting OWS classes in Wingra and then migrating to the lakes in Minocqua I appreciate a clean lake where you can see the bottom.  I'm in.  Thanks.

That was my first tri last year.  It was a good first experience and Ottawa lake is pretty warm around that time so you don't need to wear a wetsuit.
