i think on is in the back of my car with a bunch of other crap. one is in a box if extra bike stuff in the garage and others have been thrown away of are floating around on the garage floor with other trash/crap. I don't really care about medals and crap. I compete for personal pride and medals don't make me feel good about myself.

They don't mean much to you but you still know where they are and haven't thrown them away. lol

Just messing with ya.

I don't have an IM medal.    IMCdA 2010 will be my first.

My wife and I hang this sort of stuff in the garage.  This pic was obviously for another purpose, but it caught some of it.  An IM medal though...it might get framed.

Hmm, I guess I don't have enough posts to put up a pic.  A link will have to suffice.

in a shoebox in a drawer with all my race numbers and other finshers medals.  The drawer is stuffed with different workout gear/clothes. Every few months when im digging for the missing long sleave shirt or the missing glove i end up in the shoebox and see the medal. I then have about 10 seconds of nostalgia and then go on with what im doing.  The past 8 months have been about preparing to earn another one anyways.

el I have all my ironman ones in a shadow box with 3 of the 4 bibs and my bracelets fromt he races.  All the others are chronologically arranged in shadow boxes...............which are in what I call my disaster room.  I used to have them up in my office which seemed to motivate my pts but now that I am a lowly employee and I have NO SPACE to display ANYTHING  so they are in the disaster room.  I might get one of those hooky things for them as they would take up less wall space.

Was thinking the same thing as I was dusting the other day...mine are laying on top of the 'hutch' part of my desk. Finisher medals on one side, awards on the other and diploma's and pics of kids in the center.

I have donated all of my medals (aside from my first IM, my first marathon and my first Chicago Triathlon) to medals4mettle.org.

You send them the medals and cut off the ribbons around them... they put new ribbons on them and give them to kids fighting cancer. You write a little blurb about the medal or about something you overcame to finally achieve it. I don't need a bunch of medals. It's not like I wear them around the house.

I do have my bib numbers wall papered in my garage. Kiss

One day, my wife took all of my medals and placed them on a "tree" that she used to use for some of her jewelry.  I thought it was a nice way to display them.

Medals are nothing but junk for me so I give them away to someone who hands them out to his students.

I made an Oak Dislay Rack from a cabinet door and some extended panels with hooks. 15 metals can be displayed on one display. It looks like a spice rack with small brass cup hooks.

GRB1 - 2009-08-26 12:45 PM Being in the military I get to wear medals on a routine basis.  So to ramp up the display of my HIM medal I did the following.  I took a picture of the medal, along with other pictures from the race, and I set up a projector in the yard and project a slide show on the side of the house about once a week for the whole neighborhood.  I also hand out note pages so the interested can follow along with my commentary about my training, nutrition, race day report, etc.  I figure why stop at a wall in the guest bedroom go big!  I am even thinking about popcorn for the next showing!

Greg

You should consider adding a light show set to "Ironman"

Glue a magnet (or three) on the back and put them on the fridge.  I don't think I'm going to do this for my future (hopefully) IM medal, but the ones that end up in a pile will eventually end up with a magnet stuck on the back.

Got a nice frame/box for my first IM - not sure if I'll frame the 2nd one.

All the others are on a nail in the basement.

jeffreyk - 2009-03-02 4:15 PM I was just wondering how you displayed your finishers medals. Pics would be great to share if you have any. Thanks.

I don't.    I give them to my youngest (9yo) to play with.

Finisher medals are lightweight items that are easy to mount or hang.  A bookcase or cabinet shelf is enough to contain other items like trophies, plaques, etc.  Here are some ideas to display medals and trophies in a cabinet or bookcase.
