Pre-race routine:

I have to thank Brian and Jeff for making this race possible for me again! They are the best!

Comments:

I went out to fast as I am want to do. Usually I can keep up a pretty steady pace for at least 1/2 the race, but the humidity in FL killed me. I felt really good until mile 4, by then I was sweating way way way more than I usually do, and started feeling a little sick. I slowed myself way down.

That was good until about mile 6.5 when we turned the corner and was slapped in the face by mother nature...the wind pushed back hard. It felt very good at first because I was really over heating. Somewhere aroung mile 8, Pete passed me...we touched knuckles and I tried to keep his pace, but I was too depleted at that point in time. So I told him to go on...he too speedy for me.

I was looking forward to seeing the hotties at the Tampa Frontrunners Waterstation. Last year there were some really WOOFs out there...this year, not so much. Was disappointed!

Mile 10 it started raining, but the wind was now at our backs, so this felt very good. I did walk a little bit at about mile 12...then I HTFU...and pushed to the end! Since I didn't feel like puking when I crossed the finish line, I probably didn't push hard enough tho. Well, this definately wasn't a PR for me. Maybe that will happen later this year.
What would you do differently?:

Train for this race for once!
Post race
Warm down:

Went in and talked to Pete and Uncle Ken. And then around the time that Jeff was suppose to be coming in, I went out and met him. Celebratory Hug needed to be given...Now that I have done it twice, it is tradition!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wind! Humidity! Not enough training

Event comments:

I love this race. I have done it twice now. Next year if we can afford it, I am flying Rickey out with me, so we can do some site seeing too...Not sure if that will be feasibly possible...but will see. I am happy with my time concidering 3 weeks ago I was hit by a drunk driver and that threw my training off...and the weather in SJ has been and remains to be bad...This saturday rain or shine I am going out running. and Sunday is a bike ride...hopefully it clears up / warms up.

Nice job!  It was terrible out there.  did you see the port-o-potties that got blown over near the start (when we looped back through?).
