I'm doing this race in a month. I think I'll be ready. I haven't run 4 miles yet -- I'm only up to 3.5 -- but I think I can get there in a month.

I've heard the bike portion is a bit challenging -- narrow and twisty.

Anyone else doing this race?

I'm not running this race but the course it less than 5 miles away from my apartment. From what I know of the course, the bike portion will really hinge on your ability to carry speed through corners. Its a slightly rolling course, with quite a few rollers but none of the rollers gain more than 25 feet of elevation. They do tend to be short steep hills that sometimes come directly after the sharp corners though.

I'm planning on riding this course soon though since I think that I am going to be running the duathlon that they are holding the day before. If i get out there, I will try to give you some specifics.

Ok.... I got a chance to drive the course today. I still haven't rode it, but the course is pretty nasty. If you at all have a chance, I would highly recommend riding it before race day. Lots of blind corners and hills that sneak up on you. I would guess that riding it before hand could save you up to 5 minutes on race day. It just isn't a course you can push hard on without knowing what is around the next corner.

I think I may have to kill the person who said this would make a good race for my first time.

The Du the day before will actually be my first multi sport race as well. If you aren't dropping the hammer on the bike you should be fine without previously riding it. It's not a horribly difficult course since I dont think there is any sustained climb longer than a minute, its just technical. You'll be fine.

I was thinking of going up the day before and maybe doing an easy ride of the course in the afternoon once all the racing is over.

I am not doing this race but I have done the course in previous years. It is a good, venue. The bike is a little challenging in a different way, you just cannot get into a rithm, you are consistently turning, going up a small hill or down and then another turn, etc, etc, etc. If you want to keep a consistent speed you may have to get off the sadle. It should be fun...

Enjoy and good luck

It was fun. And, unlike a lot of people, I loved the bike course. The run course... not so much. In fact, I think it was designed by sadists.

I came in about 10 min. faster than I thought I could, too. So that made me happy.
