Subject: My new favorite ST quote....

Just saw this and it made me smile.

"Buying a used bike from someone off the BT Forum is always a smart move. No chance of it being ridden very hard."

Apparently they don't check the logs over here

Meh.  I acknowledge there are some legitimately fast folks there.  I still get the feeling that most of the ones that claim they're fast, aren't.

I never hear the fast folks around here talking about how fast they are.  I just stalk them and look at race results/training logs and am thoroughly impressed.

There is some truth in that statement. I think %60-70 of the members here ride not more than 1000 miles a year. Do not forget the name of this site.
ST has a lot of bull going on but there are some serious athletes including some big name pros posting some serious stuff there.

Yes, but the beauty of this site is that the logs and results CAN BE VERIFIED.  Don't buy someone's BS? check it out. There are some heavy weights over there but there are also some wanna be's who read a few books and think very highly of themselves. But when the rubber meets the road they're the equivalent of the 40yr old man hanging out on the Hanna Montana website.  I think Primetime is getting ready to do a slowtwitch special: "To catch a wannbe triathlete who's full of sh**."

jus' saying here, don't flame me, but logs can be padded.  only chip-timed results posted on a 3rd party website can be considered true.

Good point. I guess it's more accurate to say check race results. Gotta go and log my 400 mile run I did tonight..

Yeah but the moment you post a race result, you are no longer anonymous and every race result for you is available for anyone to see. It's pretty hard to pretend to be something you're not here. IMO, this is what make this site so good compared to other sports related sites I've frequented (which does not include ST). I enjoy reading the opinions of people of all abilities, but I also like that I can ascertain that ability. Honestly, I pretty much ignore those who don't log races and workouts because I have almost no interest in anonymous people or their opinions.

I do it to impress you...

My gold fish seem happy when I get in 100 miles of riding per week as well...  They have been REALLY sad the last 6 months...

I was wondering the same thing.  Seems like a lot of trouble to go to ... for what? Now if you'll excuse me, my swim times amazingly have dropped 30s/100 over the past week, and I need to log that.  After all, I gotta be sure that everybody here gives me proper credit.

ST is the letsrun of the triathlon world.

If they allow anonymous posting, it's even funnier.

Gotta give credit - it's pretty funny.  (doesn't have to be true to be funny)
