For you first timers, you picked a GREAT race.  This was my very first Tri 2 years ago.  It is now a staple to start of my Tri season.

Very well run.  Perfect for beginners because of the pool start.  Very spectator friendly.  Especially the swim and run.

Welcome to the club and looking forward to possibly meeting some of you at the race.

I'll be there and hope to be ready.  Expect wind and a great race.  I absolutely love this race.  We have 8 members of our new tri team (Tremont Tri Team (T3)) entered, plus one in the kids tri that morning.

I just hope it is a damn sight warmer down there come race time than it has been up here.  I'm sick of this bloody cold weather.

Good to hear.  It is cold up here.  I'd go for anything at or above 60 about right now.

Hello everyone,  this is going to be my first tri ever.  Heck, I didn't start running, biking, or swimming until a year ago and I am about to turn 40.  I heard it was a great place to start, except now my nerves are kicking in and I don't know how I am going to finish - which is my only goal.  So look for the last person in and that most likely will be me.  All this talk about the wind isn't helping me, is it really that bad?  Don't get me wrong I am living in Macomb, IL and the winds have been rough at times but I have been trying to avoid it.  Guess I shouldn't.  Any tips to make this easier?

Don't worry about it.  If you have been training for a year, this will be a walk in the park.

Seriously, though, this is a GREAT tri for beginners.  It was my first tri 2 years ago and I still keep it on my calendar.  Small.  Supportive.  Great volunteers.

My best advice is in my signature line.  Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.  Keep repeating that on race day and before you know it you will be across the finish line and can call yourself a triathlete.

Just relax, try not to get freaked out about anything, ask questions if you need to and you should be fine and do great.  remember to have fun!!

x2

You probably wont' experience a NICER bunch of triathletes than you will at Sullivan.  And above all, have fun.  You never forget your first.  I know I won't.
