Precipitation
Total Time = 35m 44s
Overall Rank = 720/13294
Age Group = M30-34
Age Group Rank = 126/1381
Pre-race routine:

Got up "early". PB&J and potty. Drank about 8oz of water and packed up & got in car. Parked on Financial about 1 block South of BT meetup @ Bar Louie. Walked/sloshed my way to start area and arrived exactly 5 minutes prior to Corral Area cutoff.
Event warmup:

Ha! "Warmup", yeah right. It was freezing and there was no escaping the slush and water on the ground. I "warmed" up by standing in my Start Corral next to the rest of the people in there.

This weather SUCKED!
Run
  • 35m 44s
  • 4.97 miles
  • 07m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

Well, it was too cold and windy for my to "need" to stop for water. Of course, I could have used the water but I decided that it was only 5 miles and I wanted this run over as quickly as possible!

New PR Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What would you do differently?:

Wear plastic bags in my shoes....really the water was unavoidable.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slush, cold temps, and wind

Event comments:

The "Rate this race" number is low, not because it was a bad event, only because the weather was so awful.

I BEAT MY 2008 TIME BY ALMOST A WHOLE MINUTE. This is with the poor running/weather conditions. My 1/2 Marathon training is really helping me out this year.

There would have been no shame IMO in bagging this race. Those conditions were brutal. Good job in avoiding injury.

Yeah, bagging the race definitely crossed my mind when I saw the wind blown snow going past the window.  But, with the formal training I'm doing (my first time using a plan) I really am itching to see how it's translating to race specific times.

Damn slush!!!!!!!!

Nice pace!!  I hope to hit that next year if the training keeps going the way it is.  Very nice indeed.
