Comments: Died some on the hill climb at mile 7-8. Maintained a decent pace till around mile 17 and the southbound portion south of Oak Harbor. Died some more on the rollers on the final 10 miles, plus wind slowed me. What would you do differently?: Weight loss will help, a few more distance training runs. For all the problems that kept cropping up 3 weeks before the race. Very happy with the outcome. Post race
Warm down: Walked to the car. The long walk to the parking lot actually helps work out the kinks and sore legs. What limited your ability to perform faster: Weight, limited training. Event comments: Would recommend it. Sorta challenging with the climbs and is very scenic. This year they ran across Deception Pass. Also could see the Olympic mountains while still north of Oak Harbor. Also the out and back to Penn Cove is pretty, although it added some climbs for mile 22. Last updated: 2009-03-04 12:00 AM

Coffee and oatmeal. Got a lousy night sleep because of achey hamstring and hip. Didn't want to do any stretching because it might irritate the old hammy.
Got to the start area about 45 minutes before start. Most runners were bussed in from the High School. Wore a plastic garbage bag to keep warm(did really work that well with the breeze). Did a little running in place about a minute before the horn.
