Just a quick update, placed 3rd in my age group in a 30k trail run, RR up if you want to give it a gander.  Very tough race, 5k elevation gain, poor footing only 2 aid stations and a tumble while trying to pass someone on the single track trail.

For everyone else, how are things going?

Happy thanksgiving.

Anyone out there?  Did a Thanksgiving 4 miler in 26:20 44/642 overall.  My previous short race had been a 23:30 5k, so it looks like I am gaining some speed.  However, my average heart rate was pushing 179 ish finishing at 182.  MY LT is 175, so I could not have gone any faster from sheer will power.  Fast and short was interesting compared to long and not so fast as most of my races are.   Chime in guys, 8) this shouldn't be dead yet yall are still doing races right?

I just keep on runnin' and telling myself to get my on the trainer!! This was the first year I didn't do the Seattle Half in awhile (it was yesterday). I have been trying to find a coach for a training plan for my IM but so far the ones I have tried have fallen through, so I am trying to locate more. I know I could do the IM on my own w/o a coach's plan but figure this would be the time to pony up for a coach if I'm ever gonna do it. Doubt I would get a full-time one, more like have one write a plan and hopefully be available to answer 1-2 questions a month. But otherwise, no races until June for me. Might do a half mary or something here or there if the urge hits..I did do a fun 30-day running experiment where I ran for 30 days in a row. I actually loved how I felt and have taken to trying to run every day if I can. If I remember I'll post my thoughts on my experiment which I posted on Facebook when I finished. The biggest punchline for me was finishing with a 6 or 7-mile run where my average was 7:56, which is smokin' for me cuz my 10K PR average is 8:09!

Nice pace.  So your next mary goal is 3:35:00 ?  I am just getting slower these days with the longer runs.  I did 171 miles running last month which was up from 130 miles the previous month, so that pretty much smoked me even with rest days.  Running every day would be tough, unless I wasn't doing anything else I suppose.

Good to see people back! I stopped checking for awhile because it had been so quiet. Steve, nice job on the trail race and 4 miler! I have my first trail marathon coming up this weekend. I have no idea what to expect, but I think it will be fun! Donato, good luck on your 50 miler! Kyla, I hope you find a good coach.

My 50-miler on saturday went well.  Was 10-15 min slower than last year, but they changed the course and put in a long steep climb at around mile 45ish so the course ended up with over 10,000' of climbing.

10:25:19, 73/208 OA, 13/39 in AG (Men 40 - 49), 62/165 in gender.

Bryan did the 50K, but was very undertrained for it, but to his credit, he gutted it out.

BTW, here's a better pic from the JJ100.  It shows my complete outfit.

Congratulations on the awesome 50-miler, Donato!! That is awesome and I can't get over the amount of climbing. This wasn't the race in Woodside, starting in Huddart Park, was it?And LOVE the outfit. How can you run in that??!! Did you do a long training run in it to make sure you wouldn't have chafing issues?! Congrats to Bryan for gutting out a 50K! That takes some mind- and body-power for sure. Rock on!!I hired my IM coach today. Yay! I am opting not to have a full-time coach, but will have a customized 24-week training plan and I will have unlimited email access to him and he can check out my training schedule/log online, etc. We had a good meeting and it makes me feel psyched and motivated to jump on in. He also made me feel good about my decision not to pony up for a monthly full-time coach as he said I seem to be self-motivated (I am) and in tune with my body and training (I am) and that I should be fine going this route. If I were one to slack off of workouts or cut 'em short consistently or have lots of issues with pacing and nutrition it might behoove me to spend more for more guidance, but I feel good about my plan and my goals. In addition, starting 8 weeks before the race there will be group workouts consisting of a short swim and a long bike/run brick. He has several athletes doing CDA so he plans to be at the race. It's all gonna happen for me and it's gonna be good. Yeah!!!
