Run
Comments: Just tried to feel comfortable. What would you do differently?: Warm up better before the race started. I was so discombobulated from oversleeping and rushing everything and since it was cool out (for me) I wasn't really very well warmed up and ready. Transition 1
Comments: Fingers were cold so it was hard to get them to work to buckle the helmet and get the bike shoes on. Bike
Comments: Very tough. Every time we headed due east we were blinded by the sunrise. Several turns in the first lap I didn't even know they were there until I was right on top of it because of the glare. Sunglasses can only do so much. What would you do differently?: Overall cornering still stinks. Getting a little better though. And still working on it. Transition 2
Comments: Still cold fingers, so a little slower than I'd like, but overall very good. Run
Comments: Sun was still a problem going east. I missed a sign to turn and went off course and actually had to stop to turn and see the runners coming up behind me on an adjacent road and had to run across to catch up. Easily lost 5-10 seconds on it(since it was battle of the sexes, the men started over 5 minutes after the women and there really wasn't anyone in front of me to follow...the men were behind me and 1st and 2nd overall women were several minutes ahead). As far as my overall placement was concerned it didn't matter, but a male friend of mine who likes to compete against me came across the line and his first question to me was to ask my time...he BEAT ME BY 5 SECONDS!!! I WOULD'VE BEAT HIM IF IT WEREN'T FOR THAT! However, there was a woman who has beaten me by less than a minute in the other 3 races of this series I've been doing, and my biggest goal was to beat her. She usually catches me on the second run because I'm dying, but today I had some left in the tank and was able to kick it in well. I beat her by 12 seconds! What would you do differently?: Can you put a dimmer switch on the sun? Post race
Warm down: Trotted down to cheer on the later finishers. They have so much heart they really inspire me. What limited your ability to perform faster: Tired, couldn't see well when going east. Last updated: 2005-04-02 12:00 AM

Overslept this morning...Of course, time-change day and lost an hour of sleep. Woke up about 10 minutes before I was supposed to leave for the race. Thanks goodness I packed the van the night before!. Race started just at sunrise, so wasn't sure if I needed to wear regular glasses and switch to the prescr. sunglasses for the bike, or if it would be light enough for the sunglasses with a little late start.
Light jogging, had to do all stretching there, since I didn't have time before I left the house.
