Run
Comments: Felt pretty good the entire run -- except for being a little frustrated on the first mile. Since this was my first race this year, I was paranoid that I was going to run out of steam midway through, but that never happened. I probably could have done a little better the second and third mile if I wasn't afraid of that. But nonetheless, I'm pleased with my time What would you do differently?: Really, nothing much would change if I were to do it again. Post race
Warm down: The crowd to get to the food was too much for me to even get through to pick up any. Frustrating. One guy handed me a banana, and after that I decided to stop trying because I was starting to get a little claustrophic. What limited your ability to perform faster: Crowds -- but that's to be expected. I didn't sign up for this race intending to set a PR. Event comments: Fun race, although we didn't stay for the party afterwards. It's neat just to be running with THAT MANY people all around you. You get to the top of a bridge and it's cool seeing the sea of faces both ahead and behind you! Last updated: 2005-03-01 12:00 AM

Cleaned up house because my friend's Mom was going to be coming over. :) But after that... had a bagel and water at home, then got up there nice and early. Beautiful morning for a race! Sun shining and about 45 degrees or so. Perfect running weather. Event was pretty well organized for the number of people -- the lines at the port-o-johns weren't even that long. About 30 minutes before the race, had a gel since it had been a couple of hours since breakfast (race start time wasn't until 9:30).
Aside from stretching a little while waiting to go, didn't do anything. As I figured, the forced slow pace of the first mile was warm-up enough.
