brentrolf - 2010-07-13 2:28 PM Does anyone have any suggestions toward the rogers/elk river area to open water swim?

I live in Elk River and I have gone swimming in East Twin Lake just outside of Elk River in Anoka County. It is a small clean lake with very little traffic on it. It has a nice beach on it. If your interested maybe we can meet up sometime for a swim.

New open water swim location, my front yard!  4 inches of rain in the past two hours, two more to come.  Good times!

Guess who got caught in the storm this morning?  I knew I hated running in the A.M. for some reason....

It is pouring right now still!

Has anyone done an OWS in Lake Ann, Lake Lucy or Lake Minnewashta in Chanhassen?  I'm looking for an lake to swim close to chaska and those are the only ones I know off.  Any other recommendations in the south west suburbs would be greatly appreciated.

da.

I have swam in Lake Minnewashta many, many times. My family lives right by it and we would swim weekly. Its a pretty quiet lake during the week.

Thanks for the reply Dan!  Is the lake pretty sandy or weedy?

BTW I like the shirt you're wearing on your profile picture?  It doesn't seem to tight what kind is it?

Its sandy  by the beaches until you get out 3-5' range. I think its a lot less weed then lake ann and other surrounding lakes, but every lake has them around here. There is also beaches on both side of the lake. If you swim between them its around .75mi

That shirt is my 30th anniversary 7-11 Tdf jersey, cant remember who makes it tho.
