Never saw mine deducted after first cancelled in April but will watch for this one.  I have heard they roll it over to the next one.  But my friend that works for Spinnaker and plans all there events has heard nothing.  The race planner won't even return her calls...

How can I find you guys?  I am BRAND new to the world of tri and have signed up for the Sandestin Triathlon in August.  I've never done one, haven't a clue what I am doing and sure could use some wiser folks to train with or meet up with.

Welcome!  I'm new myself.  Just did my first a week ago.  I hear the Sandestin one is a good one.  Several of my friends come down for it from Memphis every year.  Unfortunately, I won't be able to do it this year.  I will the look to the one on Oct 10th at the CrapTrap in Destin though.  Could get a group to meet and ride sometime.  I like riding 98 from PCB toward Destin...easy and straight.

I left you an inspire a couple of days ago, but if you are new to BT you might not know what that means.  If you look on your log, on the upper right corner of each days block it says "Inspire (x)".

Anyway, I'll be glad to try to help.  I'm in Shalimar.  I haven't done the Sandestin one, but I have done others, including the Gulf Coast HIM a couple of weeks ago.  Do you know what "PM"s are?  You can send me a private message, and we can figure out what to do.

Thanks. I have been trying to contact the event coordinator as well with no luck.  I guess I will have to find another race close by.

Talked to a friend, that is a sponsor under Freedom Sports, and he too has yet to hear back from Jerry, event coodinator.  So, unless this thing goes on last min I'm guessing it's a bust.

Did you see there is one in Fairhope on the same day -- The Grandman?  http://thegrandman.com/

Oops -- I just went to the website and registration is closed.  They must have reached capacity.  Sorry!

I just got an e-mail saying that it is cancelled, but there is a 5k on the same day in Fort Walton Beach.  It is the 5k Ranger Run.  So I'm doing that instead.  I wonder if I can get my registration fee back.  I hope so.  We'll see.

That's twice this one has been cancelled.  Jerry is a poor event coordinator.  I've yet to see anything in regards to refunds from the April cancellation.  I'm told they try to roll the people that sign up to the next event.  At this rate the final tri will be huge w/ all the people registered due to cancellations.  That will prob be the only one he gets up and running this year...if any.  There is a sprint in Marianna on July 4th...

That sounds like fun!  Ideas?  Maybe a bike ride?

A bike ride could be good.  Maybe we could pick a place to ride where we park near a good restaurant and eat afterwards....

Great idea -- maybe park in Destin, ride over the Destin bridge and down Okaloosa Island, then back again?

I will admit...98 scares me.  WAY too much traffic and not enough shoulder.  But maybe park in Destin by the mid-Bay bridge...ride over the bridge and down 20 (to the east) if people don't think over the bridge and back is enough.  I guess it would depend on what day we ride.

I was noticing yesterday that there is a Cracker Barrel very close to the mid-Bay Bridge...that is tasty post-ride breakfast....mmmm....

I understand -- I actually had an acquaintance who was riding there years ago, was hit by a car (drunk driver in the morning!), and didn't survive.  I'm a fan of less cars and more bikes, and I actually ride most of the time on Ranger Camp Road.  So over Mid-Bay and down 20 sounds good to me.

I would love to do that, I'm a big fan of Ranger Road myself.  If we do this can we make it early morning?  I have child care issues.

I prefer morning rides anyway.  How early are you talking about?
