Run
Comments: I wasn't sure how being up all night was going to effect my running so I held no delusions about this race. I started out trying to pace evenly and keep it smooth for the first half mile. When we hit the hill I felt pretty strong so I pushed up it. Next thing I knew, I was following the police motorcycle. As I approached the firt 180 degree turn I found myself out in front, wasn't expecting that at all. I high-fived my girlfriend as she passed me going th oposite direction then kept the hammer floored for another mile. When I finally had the nerve to look behind me at mile 2, I couldn't believe my eyes, I think I had a 1/2 mile lead! I've won my age group a couple of times, and even got second overall twice, but I've never won outright before. This was the ony thought that kept me pushing, because my legs started to fatigue at around 4 miles, probably from not enough sleep. I was scared to look back the rest of the way. If someone was closing on me, I didn't want to know because I doubt I had the energy to hold them off. I was really looking forward to "busting" the finish line tape, but they didn't have one :( No worries though, I was still happy :) What would you do differently?: Not much, maybe try to get some more sleep. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some water and cookies . What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of sleep maybe. Last updated: 2009-04-06 12:00 AM

Drove straight home from work, grabbed my gear and drove straight to the race.
Hit the bathroom quick, then jogged about a 1/4 mile and did some quick strides.
