Hello all

Tidewater Va here and never tri'd before. I am thinking of entering the patriot Sprint on the 13th of september. I figure the running and the biking are not to tuff for me been working realitivly hard on those 2 for about a year. The swimming on the other hand has always just been a way to keep from drowning for me....lol. I am what is called a clydesdale at 290lb. I was pushing 340 this time last year and I want to use a tri not only a motivation but a complete lifestyle change. Any and all advice is certainently welcome

Thanks
Scott

Welcome to this awesome sport and BT.  Lots of stuff in the Tidewater area.  Williamsburg has a pretty active tri club and you could work on swimming with their club activities.   I'm a member of Richmond tri club cause it's closer to me geographically but I know several folks in W'burg and it's a good group.

What race are you looking at this year?  There's a sprint in Williamsburg. Check out www.setupevents.com for a listing of events.

welcome! I take swim lessons at my local YMCA. They have been tremendously helpful at improving my swim. And absolutely congratulations on the weight loss and lifestyle change!

Scott,

Contracts on your venture into the Tri sport!

I am actually from Atlanta, but will be in Virginia several times this year as we have extended family that live in various parts.  I saw the Patriot Sprint on one of the Triathlon schedule web pages.  What an incredible venue!!!  Unfortunately, we are not going to be there at that time, so I'm encouraging you to do it so I can live vicareously through you

Terry

Welcome to BT!

I did the Patriot Olympic distance last year.  It ended up being a duathlon because of the river, but it is a great event.  Setup puts on a fantastic race.  I really enjoy the bike course on this tri.
