Is there a reason we are able to input HR zones for swim, bike, and run? As far as I know your maximum heart rate doesn't care what sport you are doing. Should I have three different HR zones for three different sports?

yes.

HR zones will all be different.

you can use a basic formula based on age, however this is not very accurate.

one good way is to conduct some field test.  do a Google search and you can find some tests to do this.  also, if you want, you can have someone do it for you for a reasonable fee.

around $50 each for running and cycling...that's what it cost me and it was worth it, IMO.
