Pre-race routine:

We all over-slept and really have a rush to get to check in before the cut-off. Ate on the way and drank a water right before the start. Had about 8 minutes to warm up.
Event warmup:

1/4 mile jog and light stretching.

Comments:

Very warm race, warmer than I expected. 9:00 AM start so temps were probably close to 80 by the time the race ended. First 2 splits were sub 8, but had to slow down on mile 3, lots of heat and no shade.
What would you do differently?:

Get there a little earlier and warm up. Probably take my hydration belt.

Warm down:

Found some shade and tried to cool off, drank 2 waters.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat really slowed me down. My legs were a little sore from all of the yard work yesterday but not too bad.

Event comments:

Plenty of water stations, finally a real goodie bag, nice t-shirt, band, lots of drinks and food. Good time and not too many people. Cooler temps would have been nice but it was a good race and I had a great time. Kristi, Sina and Natalie did the 3 mile.
