Overall Rank = 8/150

Age Group Rank = 1/29
Pre-race routine:

Love the 10AM start- got up at 7, and drove over to the site, 1 mile away from the house.
Event warmup:

2.5 mile bike with 3558
Swim
  • 12m 26s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 40s / 100 meters
Comments:

Great swim for me. Felt strong the whole time and the full wetsuit didn't bother me like it usually does. Even the red caps in the wave ahead didn't really get in my way ;). Did have some problems with sighting on the last leg. Kept heading too far right.
What would you do differently?:

Site a bit better on the last leg.
Transition 1
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Good transition, except for getting that damn wetsuit off.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to finally not sit down. But Bailey did, so I don't feel that slow. And the announcer was even making fun of him for it ;)
Bike
  • 35m 50s
  • 12 miles
  • 20.09 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt great on the bike. Well, it hurt really badly, but it was great. ;) Feel like the bike training is coming along nicely. The course is great - not too many hills, just slightly up and down the whole way. There was a nice drafting group that came by. Never noticed such a blatant group before. Looked like they were together most of the race or something becuase they were even trading off the lead. UGH.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I wanted to see what would happen if I pushed hard on the ride. Other than backing off some to stay out of the group that passed, I did an all out effort.
Transition 2
  • 01m 2s
Comments:

Fast - I think.
Run
  • 25m 12s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 06s  min/mile
Comments:

Had a cramp from the start which was annoying, and it is hard for me to breathe with the HRM strap in a one piece tri suit. Otherwise legs felt snappy and I thought I was running at a good pace. Pretty sure I had the AG win in the bag at the turn around, which was nice.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure. Train more?
Post race
Warm down:

None.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Early in the season?

Event comments:

Best Tee shirt in a long time. Long sleeve tech tee with the logo (funny in itself) and two beavers.

Sheesh.. Really? You can run 5 minute miles (for at least one) and could only beat me by 1 sec in transition?

I didn't want you to have to make up too much ground on the bike.

I am disappointed in the lack of PowerTap data in this race report.

I'm sure it was our pre-race peck that propelled you to the win.  ;/

Good race and congrats! Shame about the drafting group. I really dislike seeing that as it's supposed to be about you. At least the moto refs were out there and I saw by the penalty list that they did catch a few folks. Wish I could swim like you Always too slow. Oh well, maybe one day. Have a good season!
