I'm back too, back to regular training finally! I missed logging a few runs but running is comming along nicely, pain free hips, as a result my swimming and biking are steadily improving also.
Weather here has finally dipped into the 90's after climbing way above 100 for all of July.
For now I'm trying to salvage the rest of my season with a few fall triathlons,  I'm tuning up for a swim meet next weekend, also a metric century comming up soon.

A good tip is to carry latex disposable gloves in your bike seat pouch in case you need to get greasy, then just pull them off inside out and put them in your pocket, they don't take up any space and save smearing chain grease everywhere.

So I had a bit of a disaster last night.  I had my last 2.4 swim out of the 3 I signed up. I come around to finish the first loop and my googles snap!

Has this happened to anyone else?  I find it hard to find good googles for my face frame, which is small! I'm wondering if I'd be better buying kids googles!

Also wanted to ask. The legs of my wetsuit are far too long. They bunch up behind my knees making them sore when I'm done swimming.

Can I cut them?

I wouldn't unless you are not going to resell it later on. Most arms and legs are tapered for a snug fit around the ankle and wrists to seal water out, cut it further up and you may increase the diameter of the opening possibly allowing water into the suit. Suits are sold in all lengths, if your suit is new enough you may be able to sell it and get back most of your original investment. Its getting twards the end of the season and now is the time to start looking for wetsuit deals as dealers are getting 2010 models and discounting 2009's.
Just remember once you cut it its a done deal, you can glue repairs but because that area gets tugged on to the max when you remove and put on the suit , chances are it will not hold together.

How has everyone been doing?  Just got home from four days in Downieville, CA.  Went up for some recreational XC and DH mountain bike riding with some guys from work.  Eventhough I'm a little beat up, it was a nice relaxing trip.  Well, except for the hangovers each morning !

My hip seems to be feeling better, so hopefully back to some light runs starting tomorrow.

I hope we can still come in here for advice n stuff?

I cut the legs of my wetsuit last night and today I have to say it was the right thing to do.  What a difference it made to the fitting. So much more comfortable!

I did my last OWS event of the year and went out with a bang. I've been having back spasms all afternoon. Bloody ouch!

I have been a non smoker for almost 2 months now!!!!!  WOHOO!!

How's everyone else's season doing now that's it's almost over.   Unless you're down under, then it's just starting.

Hey everybody!  I've been lurking and not posting but wanted to say congrats to Lynne for stopping the smokey habit.  Way to go!  I'm in PT and nothing is really improving with the knee.  It doesn't hurt most of the time, but I'm just not confident running on it.  The desire is there, but I'm a wimp when it comes to pain.  Might try the treadmill this weekend - better then heading out for a 5 k in the forest and not being able to get home!

Is everyone finished racing for the season?  What happens to this mentoring team?

I swam across Lake Washington on Sunday   It's such a fun thing to do, and the breakfast they have for you! Oh my.

I have an Oly coming up at the end of September.  Then Seattle 1/2 marathon and other runs in the fall.  5 mile trail run this weekend.

8 weeks a non smoker too.

Lynne thats great on the non-smoking!  Congratulations.

Just got back from Xterra Tahoe.  I had a wonderful time.  Such a beautiful place to have an event.  The race was 750/22/3.  Finished in 2:57:23.  Goal was 3 hours, so it was a success.  Unfortunately though, I struggled on my strongest component, the bike.  Then when transitioning to the run, it was really hard to keep moving with pain in my left hip and back.  On the positive, my swim went much better.  Felt much more confident in the water.  Only had to stop once to reposition my goggles after getting puched in the face after going around the first bouy.  Lesson learned: it gets crowded around the turns at the bouys.

Now, time to really focus on the bike.  I have a 100 mile off-road race in two weeks.  Another tri in November, then a trail run in December.

Well, I guess this group has come to an end.  I would like to thank everyone for their help and wish you the best of luck in your future races.
