Pre-race routine:

Ate bagel with peanut butter and honey, prepped bike, put on wet-suit.
Event warmup:

some stretching and running to/from vehicles. swam for about 5min.
Swim
  • 17m 6s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 05s / 100 yards
Comments:

Struggled just to get going-- a bit of the panicky thing going on. Still placed 2nd in AG so not displeased.
What would you do differently?:

settle down to start the race... just work to get more comfortable in the water.
Transition 1
  • 03m 37s
Comments:

Struggled with the steep few steps to get the bike up out of transition. This was pretty muddy at this point and with the ACL recovery, was just praying i didn't slip. Also had major mud in the shoes -- not fun.
What would you do differently?:

Pray harder for no rain. :)
Bike
  • 1h 04m 22s
  • 20 miles
  • 18.64 mile/hr
Comments:

Speed calculates out ok but really felt slow for me. Had to slow at some parts due to rain with the hills or turns at the bottom -- wet pavement affected performance some. Also, had to slow at one point due to traffic.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing - this was a C race.
Transition 2
  • 02m 1s
Comments:

Struggled to find equipment. By this time was pouring pretty hard. Everything was soaked. Nasty section of mud coming in with the bike -- others had lost their shoes in this.

Also, the narrow path out of transition was very slippery with mud -- had to be careful of slipping due to knee injury/recovery.
What would you do differently?:

Pray harder for no rain :)
Run
  • 30m 26s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

initial hill drove HR up coming off bike- made for a slow feeling start. pretty heavy rain throughout, really just wanted it to end by this point.
What would you do differently?:

more intervals for faster run time.
Post race
Warm down:

not much really, just walking bike and equipment back to car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

rain, rain, rain at this point.

Event comments:

Enjoyed the race, great location for me. The rain made last half pretty unpleasant though.
