Total Time = 1h 12m 16s
Overall Rank = 10/60
Age Group = M30-39
Age Group Rank = 2/4
Pre-race routine:

Stayed in hotel in town, got up for a bit of breakfast (coffee, OJ & PB toast) before riding bike to event about 2 mi away.
Event warmup:

Try to get warm! Very cold and wet before the race. Windy too. Stretched a bit but mostly just waited for event to start.

Swim
  • 11m 5s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 13s / 100 yards
Transition 1
  • 01m 32s
Comments:

Not sure how they defined T1, but this was one of the faster times. I'll take it considering I took time to put on a long sleeve cycling top and squeeze my wet feet into socks.
Bike
  • 35m 39s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 21.04 mile/hr
Comments:

Cold! Managed a better speed than I thought I would considering the conditions.
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

One of the better T2 times, happy
Run
  • 23m 18s
  • 3.3 miles
  • 07m 04s  min/mile

Event comments:

This was probably the one and only time in my life I'll ever finish first! I was in the first heat and was probably sixth out of the pool. Passed everyone in front of me outbound on the bike and was alone the rest of the race. Pretty cool feeling to cross the finish line first. Of course, less than 5 minutes after I finished some dude from the second heat that started about 15 minutes after me came rolling through. Oh well.

Cold and miserable weather, and the bike was legitimately tough with the wind, but reasonably well organized (a big improvement from last year, apparently).

Will likely do again next year as the wife is an alum and she enjoyed getting back to campus.

Great job being 1st across the finish line!  It sounds like this was much improved from last year.  A few guys from our tri club, TriRochester, did it last year.  Based on your race report, I may need to consider it for next year.

Awesome race dude!  Hopefully the feeling of finishing first, in an early race, will be inspirational all year for you.
