Comments: avg pace at each mile mile 1: 08:43 mile 2: 08:30 mile 3: 08:39 mile 4: 09:13 mile 5: 10:21 mile 6: 09:43 mile 7: 09:49 mile 8: 10:30 mile 9: 10:37 mile 10: 10:28 mile 11: 11:01 mile 12: 10:19 mile 13: 11:07 Also psyched myself out multiple times thinking I had 3 miles to go (in fact 4), recalibrated and then lapsed again several times: 2 miles to go (really 3), 1 mile to go (really 2). What would you do differently?: Stop at the water stations eventhough I carried my water -- pick up their water at every other station. Ran short at the end with my own. Also, borrowed some salt tablets. Need to have my own. Post race
Warm down: Very tight gluts, hips, hamstrings. Did some stretching over the 1-2 hours post race. Hot tub + Corona fixed me up. Also took 2 more salt tablets. What limited your ability to perform faster: If can't do hills during the week, need to add them to the long runs on the weekend. Really need to commit to 3 runs/week. Instead of feeling the buzz from tapering this past week, I felt that I was struggling with the shorter distances. Last updated: 2009-01-05 12:00 AM

rose at 4:30am, ate larger than normal oatmeal serving so I could make it to start time at 8am. Usual OJ and coffee. Packed peanut butter and jelly sandwich (quartered) just in case. Did eat 1/4 sandwich 30 minutes before the start. Felt good food/liquid wise as far as prep.
Because of the heat, turned into a fun run, not chip timed.
