I'll second the idea of an Ironman in Ontario.  Hamilton would not be my choice but its close enough.

Are you talking an Ironman brand race?   Because there is an independent 140.6 race in Ottawa in Sept.  Not one that I would ever do though, with multiple loops on the bike and run.
I would love to see  a single loop bike and run iron distance race in Ontario.  
Don't think I would want to do one in Hamilton... not exactly a 'destination' city, the air smells pretty polluted there.  I'd rather see one in a less industrial area.   I don't think we will though, Lake Placid is pretty close.   Maybe another independent somewhere.

The area around Hamilton is wonderful, we ride and run there alot. As well they host a pretty great race, the Around the Bay. I think a good water venue could be found (although Burlington Bay would just add to the experience) and they could certainly get a good ride course.

It needs an economic lift (the city) and it just seems so supportive of an active lifestyle that I think it deserves one.

And I could sleep in my own bed the night before and after.

Definately an Ironman branded event.  Agree that it would be nice to not have a looping type course for the run or bike.
