Phil's 1/2 marathon split is 2:03....he's doing great!
Joe is off the bike in 7:45 @ 14.5 mph...go Joe

Also have 2 friends from my Tri-club (Granite State Tri Club) who are also racing:

Tim Britt, #1146 did a 1:33 swim and 7:17 bike
Tom Dawson, #873 did a 1:31 swim and 7:50 bike so he was only 5 positions in front of Joe Moya after the bike leg!

I don't watch sports...and I've had the video streaming for 3 hours now. I am stoked for all of the guys racing.

Wish we could predict when people will come in; I had the video on but didn't catch Phil finishing.

  • Heh, same here, I hardly ever watch sports but it's fun browsing with that streaming feed playing on the side.

That is so cool.  What a great accomplishment.  Can't wait to see their tatoos!.

I've had the web cast on all day hoping I'd see one of them come across the line...but missed them all.

    Thank you guys,
Phil was flying. I never met Devo or Joe.
as for me. My back started to get tense in the swim and 1:45 into the bike it seized up on me. I switched between :30 aero, 2 or 3 min sitting up and :05 standing for miles 35 - 95. Like a bonehead I had Advil in my special needs bag but didn't take it. Overall considering how bad the winds were and the fact I couldn't get aero, my legs felt great. And yes, my T2 time was so long because I knew I wouldn't go sub 13 so I took my time, got some Advil and yes a potty break!
I am most proud of my run. My longest run was 18 and longest brick was 112/8 so I didn't know how I would feel during the run. i picked a pace that I thought I could do all day and in fact I could. I wanted to run sub 5 and that wasn't going to happen today, so I opted to not walk at all except the aid stations... And it worked! I never felt bad at all. I kept waiting to fall apart, but on the second loop, I just alternated between water and Coke and water and chicken broth (great stuff). Looking at what I ate during the run, I probably was calorie deficient, but I didn't feel it.
Also another motivation of mine was to not let the guy who beat me for 3rd plsce in Lake Arrowhead beat me here. I saw him early on walking so I knew I didn't want to walk.
One of the best parts was at mile 24.5 I saw a sign that said go Tiger Phil and Madcow...How cool is that?
Thank you everbody, its 1 am and I am finally going to sleep. thanks again to everybody for the last 6 months!!!! You guys are awesome!
    Good night
    Tom

Unbelievably Great Guys! Congratulations all around! We were cheering from accross the globe here for you. You were the motivation for all our workouts yesterday. Of course, for the rest of the day we were sitting on our butts refreshing the web pages

Today celebrate, and recover, for you are IRONMAN.

P.S. Be sure to put in good race reports. I'm racing some of that same course at the SOMA 1/2 IM this fall.
