Event warmup:

Ran/Walked 1 mile with two of my children during their first race ever. 5yr old, 6 yr old and I did the mile in 13 minutes and all had fun. A few short stretches, sip of water, visit to the portajohn, and it was time to go.

Comments:

Goal was 53 minutes, meant to run a couple of 9 minute splits and then turn it up to 8:30-8:15, but couldn't keep the pace down with the excitement of the race. Lots of fun.
What would you do differently?:

Avoid the viral illness prior to race day.
Post race
Warm down:

Water, powerade, food, stretch, find my wife, find the kids, play around at the post race festivities.

Event comments:

Very well run, given the 16,000 folks running it. Seeded myself well, so didn't have to run around anyone at the start; rather it seemed all who seeded themselves with me decided to run too fast, cuz I had to pass them later.
