LOL!
From the link you posted, would it be safe to say that people may experience "flu-like symptom side effects?" (which is actually what I posted in the other thread) Is that better?

Vaccine Side Effects (What to Expect)

Different side effects can be associated with the flu shot and LAIV.

The flu shot: Some minor side effects that could occur are

  • Soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given
  • Fever (low grade)
  • Aches

In children, side effects from LAIV (FluMist® can include

  • runny nose
  • wheezing
  • headache
  • vomiting
  • muscle aches
  • fever

In adults, side effects from LAIV (FluMist® can include

  • runny nose
  • headache
  • sore throat
  • cough

LOL ! Guess this is from my post.

Side effects - From Flu vaccine

Side effects of the inactivated/dead flu vaccine injection are:

  • mild soreness
  • redness
  • death (very rare)[52] [53]
  • swelling where the shot was given
  • fever
  • aches

These problems usually begin soon after the injection, and last 1–2 days.[54]

Side effects of the activated/live/LAIV flu nasal spray vaccine: Some children and adolescents 2–17 years of age have reported mild reactions, including:

  • runny nose, nasal congestion or cough
  • fever
  • headache and muscle aches
  • wheezing
  • abdominal pain or occasional vomiting or diarrhea[55]

Some adults 18–49 years of age have reported:

  • runny nose or nasal congestion
  • sore throat
  • cough, chills, tiredness/weakness
  • headache[55]

Sorry you don't get the flu, just possible sore throat, fever, abdominal cramps, diahrea and nausea. I'm one of the ones who has gotten sick from flu shots, so you can't tell me that flu shots don't make you sick because they do, and the doctors who even gave me the shot told me that it might make me sick? Didn't say I had the flu from it but, I said that it gave me flu like symptons. My, immune system was pretty comprimised at the time so I would like to clarify that, as I was going through Chemo therapy treatments, but anytime that I have ever had a flu shot I became sick!

Flu Mist isn't the same as the flu shot.  It's live attenuated (weakened) virus.  People who have compromised immune systems or chronic conditions (like asthma) can't take the flu mist because they are more likely to get the flu from it.

Dude, it's really not that big of a deal. The flu shot gave me a scratchy throat, a painful arm and ran me down. I'm not saying don't get a flu shot by any means. Like you sig I know your right.

I hate the FluMist - speaking from the employee whose company makes the Flu Mist.  I get sinus discomfort afterward.  I'd take a injection any day.

After reading other stuff you are right like your sig stated. Scratchy throat and a bump in the arm is a little differant from nausea, and the other crap (literally) that comes from having the flu. Get your flu shots, and don't hide in your closet with a 12 gauge just yet.

The FluMist uses weakened virus, so it can help provide "herd immunity" - in that others in the immediate contact with the person given immunization may also receive a dose of the virus.  Kind of like the Sabin (oral) polio vaccine.  While the Salk (injection) polio vaccine is "dead" virus, so only the person getting the shot gets the immunity (I remember which is which because "kids balk at Salk" - they hate the shot).

If you are allergic to eggs, you should not get the shot, since they incubate the virus in eggs.  That's why it takes a while to gear up production to the specific strains predicted each year. And also since the swine flu is a new strain, why the flu shot you had this year won't work to prevent it.

(Hey, I may be focused on kids' brains, but I try to remember enough basic medicine to help edumacate my patients.  But don't look to me in the event of an acute medical crisis - I'll just ask you how it feels!)

I don't get a flu shot... I just stay AWAY from everyone when they are hacking and coughing and all full of phlegm... and I take vitamins and drink water religiously. It has worked so far.

If I start to get that run down feeling, I rest.

So far, so good. Kiss

There's hell to pay if you cough ((near)) me, though.

The AF is cheap and makes all of us seemingly young and healthy types get the Flu MIST and I have to admit...it's rather sucky.  I mean, who likes getting stuff shoved up their nose???  But in recent memory it's never even given me flu like symptoms.  I, however, seem to have an exceptionally strong immune system.

As for the shot...they debated whether to give it to me one year (before Flu Mist) because I had popped positive for an egg allergy on a blood test.  They finally decided that since I had never fallen over dead from eating eggs that it would be okay...and it was.  Strange medical mystery.  I still eat eggs and nothing bad happens to me...

I've never used FluMist.  I have pretty bad asthma, so I get the shot every year.
