Who are they targeting? It can't be the children, they don't know that song from Barney. It can't be the people who remember the song as "cool" but now have kids... they all think it's sick and wrong. It can't be the people who remember the song as "cool" but DON'T have kids... they are marketing kids meals. It can't be the people who are too old to remember that "cool" song, they have no idea what that song is. Worked, you know who they are and what they are selling.... Not quite. I don't have kids and if I did, I wouldn't buy them this kids meal probably solely because of this commerical. It only "works" if you buy what they are selling. You might after you watched hours and hours of Sponge Bob... |

Seriously, Burger King? You're trying to sell kids meals by altering a music video whose original lyrics are: That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist And a round thing in your face You get sprung But that butt you got Make Me so horney She's Sweat,Wet, got it goin like a turbo vette I wanna get you home And UH, double up UH UH Jeez, girl... you make it sound so... CHEAP. lol That song always makes me laugh. I don't have cable, so I've only seen the commercial once, and was less than impressed. |

You're welcome to your (uber-conservative) opinion, but try not to put everyone else into that mold. There are plenty of people who see it for what it is, a way to get noticed and market things. And funny to boot. It is marketed at the parents, not he kids. In fact, the only time I've even seen it is in prime time and later - when my kids are already in bed. Best way to do it? Of course not. But like some other ad campaign that you don't like, it certainly got everyone talking about it ....... |

In my uber conservative opinion , I think you left out an important piece of this post. That being the post she was responding to, which stated this was a "clearly targeted demographic". If you had added the previous post to her post, I think you would understand her point. I personally do not see who it is clearly targeted at! Clearly I think it was stupid and sad to use Mix A Lot to sell (out) kids meals and saying "booty is booty"; however, that is only my opinion

Veteran 241 Houston, Texas | Subject: RE: I like "square" butts, and I cannot lie Irregardless of the King being creepy, or anything else, dont take this so seriously. Maybe the clearly targeted demographic for the Kids Meal they are selling are Kids. You know, kids who think that body noises are funny, butts are the pinnacle of high humor to them. Throw in a Square Panted cartoon character and you get something that kids recognize. As far as the Booty is Booty, some of you are taking that way too far also. Look at it from a kids point of view, if you take out the adult knowledge of what a booty call is, what is so bad about it. When telling my kids to hurry up, "Shake your booty, buddy, we have to go!" is a pretty common phrase.
Just take a deep breath and relax, folks... |

edited becasue I think my keyboard is broken! I guess we can say that it wasn't targeted at Uber-Conservatives. Buy or Don't buy whatever...I think it worked because of the amount of views this thread has generated...it was funny, I will say it again, I do not want my kids to watch it. ButI was watching spongebob with the kids and SB, and patrick were Naked, Showed their butts, etc. maybe a little lightening up may be in order... |

Pretty much my philosophy on it as well. And as I first posted - it made me laugh .... but I don't eat there to begin with so it doesn't sway my purchasing power in the least. It's an ad for goodness sake, I DO have kids, and I'm not bothered by it at all (aside from the general creepiness of the King to begin with). |

I think it just falls under the category of dumb, not really offensive. My kids have seen it, they don't get it at all. All they know is it's (a) spongebob and (b) silly, which makes sense because that's all spongebob is. Butts are funny to kids no matter what; the Sir Mixalot ref is completely lost on them. That part goes ZZZZING right over their heads. Now the King...he's creeps me out. *shudders* |

The idea for the commercial is to enhance the brand awareness through that increase sales. The commercial is good (funny) and has generated a ton of additional press for the company. |
