The 2009 Mountain Ranger Run, Mountain Bike Race & Duathlon will be held on 30 May 2009 at Camp Merrill in Dahlonega. This is a fantastic event and is held in conjunction with the US Army Rangers in Action demonstartion and Open House.  Even if you don't race you'll get a chance to get a glimpse at our nations finest soldiers and warriors doing what they do best.  There are combat demonstrations, awesome displays and cool activites for kids....where else can a kid run a 1 mile fun run, see helocopters, and then actually fire a machinegun (blanks of course) ..... it's VERY VERY cool.

Just follow the link below.

My wife and I have done the 5K trail run the last two years and it is a blast.....first half is straight down this dirt road and then you make the turnaround and head staright back up...very intense but an awesome race as well as activities for the day.

I was wondering when this was, thanks for posting.  My husband and I have done the 15k a couple of times.  Great run and cool activities after.

This looks like a pretty good time.  Maybe I can make it up and stop by Shane's rib shack on the way back.

Haha...let's get Justin to go too.  Might as well run if we are driving an hour up there.  The 5 k is kinda nuts...it is straight down this dirt road to the halfway turnaround and then straight back up...very few run the whole way back up.  I would say the course adds ata least 3 minutes to a normal 5k time...here are the top 15 times from last year..definitely not a fast course but that place up there is very cool:

1 CURTIS STALLINGS 14 M 20:16.0 0

2 DREW ROGERS 48 M 21:26.0 0

3 CHRIS HARRIS 32 M 21:32.0 1

4 ZACK MCINTYRE 19 M 22:01.0 1

5 ALTON LEE 37 M 22:52.0 1

6 CHRIS CHENIOK 14 M 22:53.0 1

7 KEVIN CONNELL 49 M 23:25.0 1

8 MIKE MOORE 57 M 23:42.0 1

9 BRENT SEXTON 22 M 23:45.0 1

10 ALAN DENNIS 16 M 23:52.0 2

11 NICK CHYSNA 14 M 24:04.0 2

12 ALLAN MOWBRAY 35 M 24:08.0 2

13 JR SAYLOR 42 M 24:15.0 1

14 CLINT HAWKINS 16 M 24:50.0 3

15 BEN HAWKINS 54 M 25:02.0 1

Ya'll are so mean to me.  I feel like the little boy in the playground that always gets picked on.

BTW Brian, your list can't be correct.  It does not have O'Rear on it.

David, good luck on the race tomorrow.  It sounds like a cool event.  I wish I could come watch/not run it.  Britni is leaving for Jordan Wednesday so she needs to spend some time with Mother before she leaves.

Good luck to any more of you that decide to chase David tomorrow.
