Comments: A shotgun start, with an actual shotgun - 12 gauge I believe. What would you do differently?: convinced them to leave the 2nd lap in Transition 1
Comments: wetsuit got stuck on ankles and had problems putting gloves on for mountain bike ... it is also pretty obvious that my mtn bike shoes are not made for racing What would you do differently?: not much, would be nice not to wear gloves but still a good idea for now ... might want to think about a smaller camelback if doing this on a regular basis Bike
Comments: Happy with the effort, for the first mountain bike or single track race it went better than I expected (feared). Was not expecting the traffic jams at the beginning of the course, but they did not last long. What would you do differently?: need to pay attention to pacing and get better at picking the line, for too many obstacles I am getting by with the 29" wheels and brute force ... a little finesse would probably help with the pace and in saving the legs for the run. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: good, was slowed down by the shoes, other than that no problems, maybe get elastic laces for the run shoes Run
Comments: good run, walked the really steep hills to keep heart rate under control and it also gave me an easier time to drink Post race
Event comments: Fun race, will most likely try it again next year. I was surprise at the number of people that turned out for it I was expecting more, but maybe this is normal for xterra. All in all, a good race for my first xterra, learned lots and will have even more fun next time. Last updated: 2009-04-15 12:00 AM
