Run
Comments: Started faster than I wanted (5:50) and tried to hang on but mile two was hilly. Pace slowed down to 6:20's after that. Had no kick at the end even though it was downhill the last 1/4 mile. Felt a little woozy at the finish and apparently it showed as multiple people asked if I was Ok. Mentally had doubts whether I would break the elusive 20:00 make until about a 1/2 mile to go when I knew I had it. Great to get my first sub 20 only after a year of running! What would you do differently?: Try and slow down first mile for more even pace at the end. Post race
Warm down: Chocolate Covered Strawberries (melting pot), bread with honey, pineapple skewers and coffee. What limited your ability to perform faster: Only two weeks of 5k workouts (past two months have been half marathon training). Event comments: Great sponsers (Melting Pot, Edible Arrangements, Great Harvest Bread Co) for a smaller race. No mat timing for the start (started on a busy street) but no problem as a lined up on the first row. Good overall race. Last updated: 2009-05-02 12:00 AM
