Total Time = 4h 42m 47s
Overall Rank = 2203/3025
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 242/283
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:30 and had bowl of oatmeal, orange juice and coffee. Prepped my running gear, drinks and packed my bag. Parked across from Main Street station and headed into gear check. Cleared gear check and porta-potties with 2 minutes to spare!
Event warmup:

Walked from my car to the race. I wasn't planning on running hard at the start so incorporated warm-up into the race.
Run
  • 4h 42m 47s
  • 42.2 kms
  • 06m 42s  min/km
Comments:

Started out great for the first 30km. Lost the 4:30 pace bunny as he was taking the corners wide. Hills got to me when I hit the Burrard Street bridge. Everything in Point Grey is too hilly! I need to run more hills in training! Grabbed some gummies at the candy corner. Those were a mistake! My stomach cramped up for the next 4 or 5 km. Tried to keep up with the 4:30 pace bunny, but my stomach was not having it.

Overall I met all 3 of my goals. I finished, I was upright and smiling, and I did it in much less than 5 hours.
What would you do differently?:

Not eat at the candy corner! And run more hills.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed a bagel, some carrots and a banana and headed back to my car. Drank 2 servings of Endurox on the drive home and then into the cold bath. My legs hurt too much to stop for ice. I'll have to buy a day in advance next time.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hills and sporadic training.

Great run!  I betcha we took turns passing eachother.  I found the last third very tough but had some kick just at the end.  I too saw the 4:30 pace group pass me by.

Enjoy the recovery.

Vancouver does a great job on the marathon and everything tourist-y!

I forgot to mention the pace boobies under the Burrard Street bridge!  Thank you for taking the pain away for a few seconds.
