Comments:

1st half I felt awful. Finally settled down in 2nd half. Time was better than the effort felt.
What would you do differently?:

Take it easy first half.
Transition 1
  • 03m 6s
Comments:

Had new shoes on bike and had trouble getting in left shoe.

Practice
Bike
  • 2h 59m 31s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.72 mile/hr
Comments:

Slightly more effort/hr, but same time as training ride. Climbed very well. Rarely got passed on climbs. Passed a ton of people on the hills.
Transition 2
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

Very quick
What would you do differently?:

Put on race belt as leaving transition area
Run
  • 1h 56m 2s

  • 08m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

Wow, that is a tough run. The pit is just hateful. Dealt with cramping hamstring and quad at miles 1-3.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more on the bike and maybe take a couple Endurolytes if it is hot.
Post race
Warm down:

Found family and went down to lake and soaked legs for a bit. Helped a lot.

Event comments:

Wildflower (both races) is tough. Did Olympic last year and Long Course this year. Both tough in different ways.

Nice race!

Great pacing and shows your strength on the bike passing folks on the hills.

It is a race you hear about being epic and challenging, but living in NE hard to consider doing as it is a logistically challenging.

Did you camp? Or does everyone camp?

Great race, Scott! Looks like all your swim training was paying off in this one; if it took half the distance to settle into the swim, then you must have smoked the back half. Great job on the hills and fighting through the run. Excellent effort.
