Total Time = 3h 34m 41s
Overall Rank = 32/62
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 6/7
Pre-race routine:

Does walking 6+ miles at the NC ZOO in lieu of pre riding the coarse count? This race has turned into a training race since it was my first of the year because Yargo was eliminated from my schedule due to being on site in MYR for the last 5 mths.
Event warmup:

Just stretching.
Swim
  • 16m 39s
  • 1000 meters
  • 01m 40s / 100 meters
Comments:

Good Swim for me. Felt good the whole swim. Didn't site very well on the first lap, but this was to be expected on the first OWS this year
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Transition 1

Ok Transition
Bike
  • 2h 05m 52s
  • 16 miles
  • 7.63 mile/hr
Comments:

Horrible first lap. Seemed to always be in the wrong gear coming in and out of each corner. Never did get into a flow. Second lap was 14 + min. faster than the first, because of knowing the coarse better. Not sure on my AG rank since one guy supposedly rode the coarse in 44 min at a whopping 21.8 mph off road according to the results.
What would you do differently?:

Should have preridden the coarse, would have made a huge difference.
Transition 2
  • 00m 56s
Comments:

Really peeved about the bike leg at this point.
What would you do differently?:

Preride the bike coarse to help with my attitude at this point.
Run
  • 1h 09m 28s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 11m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

Was cruising at a nice pace for the first 5k, and had caught a few guys. I was on pace for right at a 7 min mile after the first 5k and sprained my right ankle. From that point on anything off camber forced me to walk, as did most of the rocky sections. At least 12 people passed me, but their was nothing I could do. Last 5k took in excess of 48 min to complete.
What would you do differently?:

Look where I was going, so as not to sprain my ankle.
Post race
Warm down:

Iced my ankle for a 15 min on site and again when I got home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Sprained ankle and not pre-riding the coarse.

Event comments:

Will be back next year to hopefully exact some revenge.
