Pre-race routine:

Woke up around 450am ish and tried to get some food and water in the body. Got dressed and in the car with my cousins and headed to the race. Got there around 6ish and just got all prepped
Event warmup:

Ran from the car to the starting line and just sorta hung out. Tried to take everything in and enjoy this run.

Comments:

Started out great and had a good pace. Ended up having to pee around mile 4 to just make sure everything was okay. (Long story short from the previous years race was I had to go #2 in a ladies house around mile 6 so double and triple checking is always good:) ).

At this point I caught up with my cousin again and we paced each other for a good while. Around mile 9ish I felt my legs getting heavy and tried to just keep going. Mile 10 (Walmart) hit and I let my cousin go ahead while I got some water in me. Figuring only 3 more miles to get this done with. My time at this point was fine. I had 3 miles and could do 3 -10 min miles and still be under two hours.

As I made the turn to mile 11ish I hit the wall. Stomach started growling like crazy and giving me hunger pains, and my calves started to get heavy and tight. Not tight as in like cramping just couldn't push much more.

Going back and forth on if I should keep pushing and possibly risk injury or just maintain what I have and obviously finish. Oh and at this time the rain came and started the down pour. So I got a little cold and everything started to get tense. I started doign a walk run walk run for the next mile and a half or so. I then came to the final hill and was determined to run the rest. I made the turn onto the track and tried running as hard as I could to get my time under the 2 hours.

Crossing the finish line at 1:59 something was great! Ended up beating my time by 5 whole minutes from the previous year when I was in a little better "running long distance" shape then before.

What would you do differently?:

Train for longer runs obviously. Nutirition was a factor on this run, so bring some F'in Gu! But happy with it being a "B" race.
Post race
Warm down:

Got my medal and water and then STOCKED UP on food in the little food room. Met up with my two cousins and walked our FREEZING butts back to the car. Headed home and got a nice warm shower

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Longer runs in my training. Longest run to date was only 10 miles and hell I got 10 miles and hit the wall. Make sense huh? I'd say nutirition at the end.

Event comments:

I always love this race. Its small, challenging but still not too bad. I guess sorta reminds me of Boston even though I have never ran it. At the end is a little hill to really try and break you. Depends on how determined you are to get up it.

Love the race.

Great work on breaking 2 hours!  I knew you could do it!  I did say to start off at an easier pace too. Money mouth

Just remember, it is not one workout that makes or breaks a race (meaning not going over 10 was not an issue), it is the combination of all your workouts that is the deciding factor.  People don't train a whole 26.2 before running a marathon.
