Run
Comments: It was very warm today. I positioned myself near the front to start, instead of hanging near the back and getting stuck behind the walkers. The first mile was the fastest mile split I ever ran, but mile 2 was in the sun and I couldn't maintain the pace. By mile 3 I was spent. Ended up 3 seconds off my PR and was able to run the whole time, so I was okay with that. What would you do differently?: Hydrate better, especially with with heat. Watch my pace at the start so I don't burn out after the first mile. Post race
Warm down: Walked alittle, then collapsed on the ground with a bottle of water and an orange. Event comments: There was only one water station at the half way point. Because it was so warm, they could have added another. This was their first year, and I thought they were well organized and there were lots of volunteers directing along the course. My only complaint is that they didn't start until 11:00 am. If they had started earlier, it would have been cooler. Last updated: 2009-05-09 12:00 AM

Walked/jogged and stretched for 30 minutes waiting for the race to start. My knee was tight so I needed to loosen it up. It worked, and it didn't bother me during the race.
