Pre-race routine:

Got up at 0330 after sleeping about 3.5 hours, drank coffee, and ate a bagel with PB. Loaded up the jeep and made the hour trek to NB. Drank 450 cal of infinit on the drive to the race site. Arrived at around 0615, and they had already closed the close parking and ended up having to park 1/4 down the road. Grabbed all the gear and headed to transition, met up with Todde and his buddy Keith. Got body marked and the set up transition...
Event warmup:

Ran for about 5 minutes down the run course...
Swim
  • 04m 32s
  • 300 meters
  • 01m 31s / 100 meters
Comments:

This was an okay swim, my goal was not to go out too fast and be hurting right form the get go. There were some fast swimmers at this race.... shoulders and back felt a little sore, but overall not a bad swim
Transition 1
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

Okay transition, fumbled with sunglasses a little and then flapped a little getting on the bike. Gotta work on getting feet into shoes quicker.
What would you do differently?:

More practice, and need new bike shoes
Bike
  • 29m 58s
  • 11.2 miles
  • 22.42 mile/hr
Comments:

Started the bike out with a nice smooth cadence and was riding at a hard but comfortable pace. Got passed by Patrick Evoe about 3 min into the ride he, just flew by. Only passed one guy, and got passed by a group of three on the backside of the course. Tried to keep up but they dropped me. Hammered hard on this ride and the legs felt a little tired on the hills. Tried not to blow up so the legs had something left for the run. Overall okay bike gonna have to work on this...
What would you do differently?:

Ride more
Transition 2
  • 00m 52s
Comments:

Transition was a little bit packed and had to stop for a brief moment to avoid folks heading out on the bike, got passed by one dude in t2...
Run
  • 12m 9s
  • 2 miles
  • 06m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

Left T2 right behind the guy that passed me, and tried to stay with him the best I could. The first mile just tried to stay steady, this run for some reason always seems longer than 2 miles to me. Hit the turn around and tried to pick up the pace a little and take advantage of the downhill. With about half mile left got passed by a dude running 4:57 pace. Overall I am happy with this run, would like to be able to get below 6:00 min pace but I will take this.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, ate a burger, chips, ice cream, and drank a fat tire ale mmmmmmm

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Overall happy with this effort. I do not have a lot of speed work to this point, so very good race

Event comments:

What can I say Jack and Adams, always puts on a top quality race
