Pre-race routine:

Drove from Modesto to Clovis, it was around a two hour drive. Warmups started at 6:30 until 7:50.My wife Daughter and I got there about 7 and I found a open spot to put stuff and headed to the warmup pool.
Event warmup:

As I made my way to the warmup pool I made a pit stop, on my way out I saw a guy that looked like Rowdy Gaines(turns out it was, and he is smokin fast!).I did a 20 minute warmup consisting of some short yardage, turns and a couple starts.

Comments:

My event (50 Breast) started shortly after 9:45.Going into this meet I was not well prepared but wanted to see If I could improve my time swimming with some fast people. The heats were going fast so I got my stuff together.
I got a good start, it could have been stronger. My pullout and dolphin kick were solid and my goggles were intact, I did not feel strong on the first 25, going into the turn I felt sloppy. My second pullout was fast, short of breath I tried to keep my stroke fast although it may have looked sloppy. I came in at 35:14 for 2nd in my heat and 23 overall. Not a great time for me, I was hoping to go sub 33, my goal over the next year is to go sub 30, I need to spend way more time swimming though.

What would you do differently?:

Workout seriously, something I have not done in a while, I have focused on triathlon and it has affected my stroke, it seems I cannot balance long distance swimming and sprint swimming and need to decide on what I want to do more, perhaps I should split my season and do swimming in spring and early summer and tri's in late summer and fall.
