Thanks for all of the responses. Very helpful stuff. I know there is probably some some debate as to whether it's worth spending time on perfecting bilat breathing but for me I think it's at least worth some attention because a) I think it'll add a bit of confidence to my OWS and b) Right now my right shoulder/neck does get a bit sore after a lengthy swim which to me means something is not balance or right.

I'll definitely try the one arm swimming. I've already been trying to force the breathing on the weaker side every other lap (when I can) but it's clear that my time suffers significantly when doing so. I'll also try the pull buoy and see what a lesson has to offer.

Don't forget c) which may be applicable and is that most people seeking advice are really just looking for confirming opinions. It's a human trait that everybody does to some degree. Making a major philosophy change is not only difficult but it should be difficult. Major changes should be done slowly with a lot of thought and consideration based upon the advice from the best experts to which one has access. Good luck!

Thanks! In case anyone happens on this thread, I had another one from earlier about the merits of bilateral breathing:

I had one OWS where it would have been extremely helpful to be able to breathe on the left. So I'd like to learn to breath on both sides and not be stuck with just the right side. Also, most of the drills I've done that are designed to teach you to breath on both sides have improved my stroking technique overall. So they seem worth doing to me, at least once in a while.

That said, it's not my highest priority as I have too much other stuff to work on.
