Hello
I'm going to do my first triathlon this year. Haven't picked it out yet, but will shortly. I had originally aimed for one in May but some other things took priority over training.

I've never been athletic (much less coached) in school or college so it's actually quite refreshing to start being an athlete and experience it now. I'm 42.

I'm learning to swim laps and build up endurance. Today I bought a computer for my bike to tell me cadence. I haven't a clue to what my cadence has been but suspect that i'm just going way too easy. I don't use clipless pedals. It's hard to get all the gear at once.

I pretty much train alone as this is my style for the most part. This should change as I hook up with a triathlon group who really seems active with all sorts of training. My training plan comes from an online coach that suits me very well.

Welcome!

There is lots of gear that you need can get.  But to start you can get by with a swimsuit, goggles, bike and running shoes.

Good luck & find a race to set as a goal!
