Subject: How stoked am I???
I have to say that finishing the IM is nothing compared to how I feel now that my wife has decided to try triathlons. She swore she would never even think about doing one. As we were driving home from Az. she was saying that we used to do things together, now we have seperate hobbies. She knows I'm not going to get into knitting so she decided to give it a tri. She said she had been thinking about it for a while, but was just going to start by running then gradually get into the tri thing, but after seeing the IM she said she really wants to do it! It has been so awesome going home and having her say "I think I will go for a swim today and maybe a run after work tomorrow" (That is soooo cool)
She is registered here at BT but is too chicken to introduce herself. She doesn't want my trifriends to know she is doing this either so she "can be aloud to be bad without any sympathy" She also doesn't want to be just Tom's wife who is dabbling in triathlons. If she is going to do it, she will take her time then hopefully explode into the sport (just like hockey). I am going to support her 110% if this is something that she wants for herself. I know that if she finally decides to introduce herself here that everyone will except her as graciously as you have me. Again, I am so excited that I just had to post this
Take care
Tom

I think the excitement I had at my first 5K nudged my wife into wanting to try running.  SHe has asked for the link to the couch to 5K program, and mde noises about taking a friend of heres that does dus to a running shoe store to get fitted.  I would be stoked if she got more into it.

And LOL, Tom, tell your wife it's not that hard to figure out who she is

That is very cool!  My wife did the same exact thing after my Ironman.  She also said she had no interest in doing tri's.  Another triathlete is born, Woooo Whoooo!

That's great Tom! Sorry, should I refer to you as IronTom now? Seriously, I love the time that Wifey and I spend Scuba Diving, hiking and riding our bikes together - I know that you'll support her very well.

Just a tip though, if she refuses to take advice from you about something that you feel strongly about, tell one of your/her friends to mention it to her and it'll be like a startling revelation coming from someone else

That's great!!! I'm trying to get my SO into it also, at least I'm getting her to the gym more, so if anything, she's going to be healthier.

And of course we'll welcome your wife with open arms. Tell her to post without identifying her as your wife. Maybe we'll have a BT game and try to guess who she is

Frank,
That is too funny. When we were playing hockey I would try to teach her how to shoot. She was really awkward and wasn't getting it. I tried forever, then finally we paid some coach. He told her the exact thing that I told her "but it's different coming from a coach". I have learned to let her figure things out on her own. She knows where to find me if she needs to. I figure this is a good place for her because I can't answer any of the "girl" questions

Tom,

That's so awesome that your wife is getting into tris. Tell her not to worry we'll take care of her. A triathlete is born. Woo Hoo.

Good luck to your wife, tell her we won't hold it against her just 'cause she's Mrs. Cow.

If you're madcow, would she be madbull?
