Overall Rank = 596/1569
Age Group = F25-29
Age Group Rank = 9/71
Pre-race routine:

Followed my cherry blossom pattern and got up 1:15min before we had to leave. had plenty of time to hydrate, finish my coffee, do my business, get ready and not feel rushed. this is essential moving forward.
Event warmup:

nothing. swung my arms a bit. phew.
Swim
  • 27m 40s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 50s / 100 meters
Comments:

while my time was three min faster than last year, i did not feel great at the start. it was a rough start for me. i couldn't not break through to save my life. lots of traffic. i was feeling pretty fatigued at the finish and HORRIBLE at transition. biking was the last thing i wanted to do.
What would you do differently?:

i'm not sure. maybe work on a more aggressive start? not sure i am ready for that yet.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

annoyingly, their new timing comp combined the bike and t1. no real data for t1 time. i felt like i had really good transitions today. no problems. it probably makes my bike look better by having t1 and the bike combined, sadly.
What would you do differently?:

maybe try pam around the ankles. that was my only problem. i went sockless for the first time ever. i like it.
Bike
  • 1h 32m 56s
  • 25.48 miles
  • 16.45 mile/hr
Comments:

i did not feel fast, but i did like my new shifters. just got them on the aerobars. it helped A LOT keeping up speed on the downhills. i hit 37mph on a downhill and about crapped my pants. felt really proud though.
slight scare when my right aero bar came loose. way loose. i couldn't hold it at all. had to just lean on my frame and hope i didn't go flying. fortunately this was only for the last 5ish miles. it made shifting difficult.
What would you do differently?:

i desperately need to train more on the bike. no secrets. that is it.
Transition 2
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

i felt really good on transitions today. i did have a sweet spot though. went sockless on the run. felt good.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 49m 55s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

felt good. didn't push it early. my first lap was in the 8:20s. must have gotten faster after. great pace on a hilly course. i passed a ton of guys. that's always nice.
What would you do differently?:

more miles. again, no secret. my running logs have sucked the last 1.5 months except my 1 weekly 10 miler. need to run more frequently.
Post race
Warm down:

nothing and cramped HORRIBLY

What limited your ability to perform faster:

more training on the bike and running.

Event comments:

once again, they didn't let me down with the tortellin salad!

Lisa! Congrats! 9 of 71 is so amazing, definitely something to be proud of! And that run time is smoking, consider the nature of the course. Great work and congrats to Ryan too!

Great job!  Dang girl you are a fast runner! :-)

I can vouch for Pam, worked wonderfully. :-)  Still feels weird to be putting on though.

Fantastic time! I can't imagine doing 5 miles with a loose aerobar, that's crazy. And I agree on the pasta salad, good stuff.
