Sunny
Total Time = 1h 42m 22s
Overall Rank = 37/78
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 6/10
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5 and had a couple pieces of toast.

All times in this report are approximates because they did not use timing chips.
Event warmup:

Did a little running and a little swimming.
Swim
  • 08m 10s
  • 547 yards
  • 01m 29s / 100 yards
Comments:

Not sure if it was the taper or the wet suit or what but I had an awesome swim and was amazed to be coming out of the water right at the front.
What would you do differently?:

I needed to do a little better sighting not for course corrections but for getting around people.
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

As I came out of the water there were folks there unzipping the wet suits for us....it was awesome!
What would you do differently?:

I felt fairly good about this tranisition but know there is room for improvement.
Bike
  • 1h 05m 22s
  • 17.6 miles
  • 16.16 mile/hr
Comments:

Right out of transition was a monster hill which immediately caused my right calf to start cramping a bit. That hill was followed by another longer not quite as steep hill but still very difficult to climb. I'm guessing the grades were around 13-16%
What would you do differently?:

I pushed as hard as I could which didn't leave much for the run but I knew that would be the case coming in and planned for it. This is by far my weakest area and I need to really focus on my bike for the rest of the season.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Another decent transition with room for improvement. My feet were numb from the cold bike and so I had a little difficulty getting my shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

I should have left the tape on my bike shoe vent holes but thought it was going to be warmer.
Run
  • 25m 20s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

Came off the bike fairly well apart from the numb feet. Not being able to feel my feet seemed to hurt my form and my feet were sore the rest of the day.
What would you do differently?:

Again, I need to work on my biking which will help me enjoy the run a little more.
