I know a lot of Urologists so unless we have twins...snip snip and no worries. Plus if done right and I do somehow change my mind at some point it is reversable now. (as a side note, my wife has twins in her family tree, she has twin uncles and twin nephews most recently not to mention the older generations so that is a very real possibility for us) |

DH got the snip about a year ago. Having 3 kids under 5 was rough and we didn't sleep for about 3 years straight having 2 really close together. The older 2 are teenagers so that helps and they are all such great kids. My husband was worried I would never feel done but I certainly did after #5. I love being pregnant and giving birth so that helps. It's the sleepless nights that get me. |

I totally understand the pizza part, but BC works wonders.... and now I gotta ask- you LOVE being pregnant?!?!?! That concept is so alien to me- so no offense (REALLY!!) but HOW could you enjoy having your body being taken over by a parasite, vomiting, getting fat, emotional, tired, feet swelling, and then pushing a bowling ball through your hoo-hoo!??!? And then doesn't it RIP?! As you can tell, I don't have any kids And I will not, either, because the thought of that process makes me sick to my stomach. Maybe I'm selfish? But I had to ask! I don't think I've ever heard a woman say she loved being pregnant...but I guess that's why you have 5!! |

The older 2 are teenagers so that helps and they are all such great kids. My husband was worried I would never feel done but I certainly did after #5. I love being pregnant and giving birth so that helps. It's the sleepless nights that get me. I think the first issue is that I take measures before and during pregnancy to maintain my comfort and my body. I eat GREAT when I am pg - high protein 70+ grams per day, no refined sugar and very little high glycemic sugars - only 1/2 banana at a time, 10 grapes kind of thing so I don't gain much. I drink red raspberry leaf and nettle tea throughout to keep my uterus toned and I didn't swell with any of my pregnancies. Though I will admit nursing #3 through my whole 4th pregnancy was taxing. I have short labors and pushed all my babies out in less than 10 minutes. The key is the last 3 were born at home in my bathtub. I miss being pregnant, I miss knowing I won't give birth again which is probably why I took up tri's - training, eating, working towards a finish line that makes it ALL worth it. Oh, and pregnant pizza totally rocks! I know I'm the exception and know that part of it is the way I am built but even my 68 year old midwife is impressed when 24 hours post birth my girly parts are back to prepregnancy shape. In my 5th pregnancy I gained 18 pounds and she weighed 9 pounds, 3 ounces so only days later I was at my pre-pregnancy weight. No tearing but water birth and listening to my body rather than being told when and how to push makes a HUGE difference. Now, if I had to birth in a hospital I probably would have stopped at 3. Pregnancy is not a time to let yourself go, it's a time to take better care of yourself because it's not just YOU anymore. Don't listen to all the stories - pregnancy and birth are what you make them. Train for it, eat for it, prepare mentally and you'll have a great result. |

I had this EXACT conversation at work a few days ago when I was asked when I was going to jump on the preggars wagon along with my 6 other friends who are currently pregnant. I even used the term "parasite." I am weary of drinking the water around here. |

Sorry, but you misquoted me- I said how could you ENJOY it- because I was referring to someone else's post when she said she loved being pregnant. She provided an answer, and it was informative, since before hearing her account, I had not heard anything but awful stories of what it is like to be pregnant. If I don't ask, then I will continue to live in extreme fear of bearing children. But, thanks for pointing out the fact that I didn't congratulate the new parents! Congratulations! Glad to hear everyone is healthy! |
