Woohoo! LBS called that my road bike is tuned up! I can stop sweating the lettuce about finishing in 3 more days. Not that it's going to be any easier, but just on the hairy edge of do-able

And yes Will, you need to add some miles on that bike this month! Enjoy it - it's real purdy...

Well, like quite a few others on here, your initial challenge (evidently) was much too easy. Time to raise the bar. How about 100 miles by May 1?

EEEEK

How bout 75.. I'm only riding twice a week on my current plan and only three rides left this month.. (which will have to be modified)

ok, but Bear the Big Meanie said I have to get off the computer and ride. that sucks. I thought this game was like Fantasy Football. So I have a week and half to go. 118 miles in 11 days. That means 12 miles a day every day, or a few big fat rides this wknd. By the end of this week, Sunday, I can reasonably ride, 50. I think.

Aw c'mon. You have a brand new FAST bike, and you're trying to tell me you're only going to ride it three times in the next eleven days? I'm asking for less than ten miles per day...

Where are the pictures, anyway?

Even though I'm "tapering" for Saint A's, you better up me to 400 for April.  I've already got over 100 miles for the week of 4/17.

Don't start a run lots thread, because I'll be in deep doo, doo.

I have no doubt that I'll ride it more than thrice in next 10 days.

Put me in for 100 if you want.. I'll do what I can

Oh.. and I rode 7.96 miles today
but i guess that's in my log so it's all good.. huh?

Next week is a BAD week for me to pile up the miles as It is a rest week in my training plan.. I also have a 5k this weekend..

Looks like after I've messed with my plan to add in the new bike factor I'll be riding about just over 4 hours next week. I don't think i can average 25 mph..

You have to be at 2/3 your goal by Saturday to be back on track. That would be ~82 miles, meaning you have to ride 75 this week.

Go possum go!

Hey Bear...I said the "heck with it" on my "too big" Trek, and went to Recycled Cycles and bought a Schwinn THAT FITS ME! I didn't get to really ride when I got home (I rode it around the parking lot of my apartment complex), but it feels great! I can actually stand over the bar! I know that the challenge is already in progress, but I would like to join. Is the challenge over May 1? If allowable, I would like to set a goal of 75? (Keep in mind that I am a complete newbie to riding).

Nice bike - I love red. It's a statement of power and speed, but ONLY if you ride it. So - on with the mission, go ride that puppy!

Yaaaaaaaay Katie!. I was really concerned about you on the way too big bike. Yes, we'll add you to the challenge, same as will, that you have accomplished your "A" goal of getting a bike, and will now proceed to your "A+" goal of 75 miles by May1.

OK?

Sounds Great. I will be able to get in 75 with no problem. The bike is AQUA, so it'll go REALLY fast.

YO! Big Bear - does a compu trainer count? We just got tornado warnings for today - so no riding outside - a Compu Trainer has REAL courses, evelvation changes, watts, HR, cadence etc - nothing like a trainer which I know you ruled out. Let me know, thanks!

Aqua? Is it an underwater bicycle?

Will, I can let you slide down to 75 miles like katie if you wish...

Yeah, I know it';s more of a real-life simulation, but kim and I set down the original ground rules to include NO INDOOR RIDING. Part of the challenge is to get folks outside in the burgeoning spring weather and ride. Sorry!

A hard core like you shouldn't be bothered by tornado warnings, right?

got it. I'll log it, but you don't have to count it. No worries. if I ride 720 real miles this month and 80 on the compu trainer, its ok by me. ;-)

hard core IS riding the CT - outside is MUCH easier, trust me. Trying to avg 20 mph on the CT is hard. Outside is much easier.

i'm screwed. there's no way I can do this! I completely overestimated my abilities at this time. I will see what I can pull off, but there is NO WAY I'm gonna get those miles in given my travel schedule for work this week and next.

That's OK Hollis, one of my favorite sayings is, "Life is what happens when we're busy making other plans." Do what you can and what your schedule allows, then make it your goal to top THAT mileage next month.
