Regular 66 | Subject: Tremont Triathlon : Official Thread k, Tri Guys and Gals you decide are we gonna trash talk or just chit chat a little over a month left and it's go time. Hope you all have been having a great race season so far and I hope some of you have been bringing home the hadware. Me after a great start in Petersburg I had a little set back in Galena, but fear not I will be back in true form in Tremont. Hope to talk and see you all soon. I hope to actually meet some of you there. Wyldchyld |

It's been a great summer and hopefully that will continue in Tremont. Any hints on what the course is like? This is my hometown race, look for us in the T3 jerseys and ask any questions you may have. Swim: You get 1/2 lane to yourself. 8 laps (16 lengths) in the outdoor pool. They call your number to put some people on deck. Then when someone is finished swimming and a lane is open they send you there, you get in the pool and wait by the wall, the timer asks if you are ready, then says go. They had somekind of Blackberry device that would start your time. At least this was how it was set up last year. I'll know more tonight as we are having a meeting. Bike: Pretty flat 12.5 miles. There are a couple of "hills" or elevation changes that will have you switching gears, but no mountains or big hills . You go out into the country, make a square, then back in on the same road you road out on. One road you'll get the bumps from the cuts in the road (babump....babump.....babump). Then the 2 roads making up the backside of the square are your typical Illinois country roads (kinda rough). The other 2 we use for our weekly time trials and are not bad at all. Corners will be swept (I promise). Run: Out and back. Flat, fast course. Hope this helps. Chris |

Member 30 St. Louis, MO | Subject: RE: Tremont Triathlon : Official Thread Thanks for the info. Sounds similar to Sullivan except no wind? HOPEFULLY!!! Although do they have anyone counting laps or does the athlete keep track...something I am horrible at. |

Extreme Veteran 563 Pekin, IL | Subject: RE: Tremont Triathlon : Official Thread They have lap counters and as you head toward the wall to make your last turn, they put a red kickboard in the water to signal you "last lap." It is very similar to Sullivan, a bit hillier though and only around the square once. Also, run is on road and not through park. |

Regular 66 | Subject: RE: Tremont Triathlon : Official Thread k sounds great. What do you think about setting up a time and place sometime b4 or after the race so all of us BT'ers can meet each other? If any other of us Bt'ers want to do this let me know. It's nice to put faces on the names on this web site. It's also a neat way to meet new people with the same intrest. |

Member 30 St. Louis, MO | Subject: RE: Tremont Triathlon : Official Thread Awesome about the shirts...this is only my first tri season and i already have too many cotton tees. Will the pool be open for warmups before the pre-race meeting? |

Member 41 | Subject: RE: Tremont Triathlon : Official Thread Flyers, Yes, pool will be open prior to race meeting for warm-ups (well, at least it was last year). As far as the shirts, it sounds like we'll be doing the tech shirts again this year. They were a big it last year - I still wear mine over my tri gear to and from most races. You can accumulate a lot of cotton tees in a hurry, so this is a nice change. As far as the lane pool swim. For a newbie and first tri experience, it's nice not to have the pressure of somone swimming up on or over you. Swim at your own pace.............the faster swimmers won't be impatient because you are tying up a lane - you just start at the first empty lane when it's your turn. The downside is the limited number of competitors do to not serpentining. As Chris mentioned, there are a few rough roads on the bike course, but still a fast course - just a few rolling hills and a flat run course to follow. Looking forward to the race and meeting some new folks also. Just look for the athletes in T3 Gear and we'll be able to answer most of the questions you may have about the race. In the event we cannot answer it, we know who to ask! Good Luck to everyone!!! James |

Regular 66 | Subject: RE: Tremont Triathlon : Official Thread ok I went in to my secret lab and used the finest technolgy and did some figuring. i crunched the numbers and here is what I came up with in my battle against you Chris. In the Swim it looks like I have about 45 sec avantage but in the bike well how do I say you are far more advanced to me for now and you get a 2 min advantage in the bike with you haveing a 1:15 sec advantage going into the run. This makes it hard for me cuz it looks like we are pretty even on the run giving you a 1:15 sec advantage. So Now I must go in to my secret trainning lab and cut 1:18 thus giving me a victory and if not I still have 2 more races to beat you! Good luck all and I'll see you all in 2 weeks. |
