Does anyone do much open water swimming around Rochester? If so, what are some good locations? Thanks.

Foster Arends which was open for Memorial Day weekend and will be opening for the summer on June 1.  You must swim within the roped off area.  FA is free.  Chester Woods also has a swimming beach but it's within a county park and you need an daily/annual vehicle sticker.  FA is much better for swimming than CW, less weeds.

Also, check out www.trirchester.com for info on our local tri club.  Starting in June we will be holding Thursday Night Tris (TNTs) which are short practice sessions typically involving all 3 disciplines.  We often have bike racks available so you get to practice transitions as well.

What he said!

I'm going to have to get over to FA sometime in the near future for a short swim.  Good to hear that the practice nights are coming up soon.

On the website it says the beach doesn't open until 10 AM. Is that true? If so, I guess no early morning swims.

Probably no early morning swims allowed.  There is a big fence and lots of signage discouraging breaking the rules.  I've only ever been there in the late afternoon and it's pretty empty.
